Ireland has some of the best milk in the world — and milk chocolate needs great milk plus great cocoa. From Cork to Donegal, artisan chocolatiers are pairing the two.

Importing cocoa into Ireland

In plain wordsCocoa imported into Ireland follows EU rules: food safety limits, phytosanitary checks for beans and due-diligence data under the EU Deforestation Regulation.

Irish buyers include chocolate crumb, confectionery, dairy and bakery manufacturers.

  • EU food law: cocoa products must meet EU contaminant limits, including cadmium limits for cocoa products.
  • EUDR: importers need traceability and geolocation data for the cocoa; ask for it before you contract.
  • Ports: Dublin and Cork, often via transhipment in Antwerp, Rotterdam or Le Havre.
  • Documents we supply: certificate of origin, phytosanitary certificate, Certificate of Analysis and EUDR data on request.
